There are literally hundreds of fly fishing guides licensed to operate in the state of Montana. And whether a guide has one year of guiding experience or forty years, he or she each has developed some type of perspective about trout fishing with the fly.

The sharing of that personal perspective is what you pay for when you hire a guide.webassets/_DC5.JPG

Mine is from the perspective of an avid Missouri River fly fisher and fly tier. I have fished the Missouri since 1983 and still do-frequently.  I prefer to fish the waters where I guide clients and then teach and coach folks on the basis of has worked for me.

I guess I'm an "old school" guide and I'm quite happy with that description. I still tie a lot of my own flies and I use these patterns on my guide trips. I like to encourage anglers to take what the river gives tactic-wise, be that fishing nymphs, fishing dry flies, or throwing streamers, and i still love the old wooden drift boats.

Mostly though, through fly fishing I have been fortuante to meet some truly fascinating folks and have developed many very special and life long friendships.

Oh yes, and we have caught a lot of fish...................
